Remedial Massage
Remedial massage is a treatment to help reduce pain, encourage rehabilitation, and correct physical issues that might be causing problems such as chronic pain like neck pain, backaches, headaches, injuries from sports or occupational, postural, and many more, therefore it has a specific end goal. Different techniques are used throughout the treatment to achieve these goals such as deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and therapeutic techniques. Some of these techniques may feel uncomfortable at times or are commonly referred to as ‘good pain’, however, they are specifically used to achieve an outcome. Several sessions may also be required as part of the treatment process.
Sports Massage
The main aim of a sports massage is to keep your core muscle groups working to the best of their ability by decreasing muscle tension and swelling that can be caused by exercise. There are different stages when a sports massage would be most useful.
Some benefits of sports massage may include;
Increased joint range of motion
Increased flexibility
Decreased muscle tension
Decreased muscle spasms
Enhance performance
Decrease chance of injury
Decrease recovery time between workouts
For pre game/event it is most useful to book in a sports massage around days four to seven before your event, our therapists will then have the freedom to get deep into the muscles to aid in relieving any muscle tension from training session and will also allow time for your body to recover from any soreness you may experience from the massage.
post event massages are useful in the aiding of recovery, however, this type of massage should not be high pressure and a relaxing type of massage is a better option, this is because after an event your muscles might be quite tender, sore and inflamed, this more relaxing type of massage will help to ease the soreness experienced with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). According to the American College of Sports Medicine, DOMS typically occurs in the first 12-24 hours after exercise
